Happy World Wide Knit in Public Day!!! - link

I must confess though I didn't spin this in public today. I have been trying to get this cute little bat spun up since last weekend. So I have been spinning on short breaks to get water and sodas in the afternoon. I thought today was a good day to share this spinning and about Mia's new etsy shoppe.

If you haven't heard, Mia from Knit and Play with Fire has opened an Etsy Shoppe - Malia Fibers. She is specializing in Art Batt's, Hand spun yarns, and also Spinners Aprons.

Hope you all get a chance to spin outside today!!!!!

kitty: "Thursday" started on a Thursday

Thursday
Pattern: Thursday by Kirsten Johnstone - blog - ravelry
Fiber: Habu Textiles A-1 2/17 Tsumugi Silk
Fiber: Tandy Leather Cord

Hopefully this will just be a really quick knit. it just seems I don't have enough time to turn around these days so knitting is left to conference calls. I didn't really know what to knit next and was looking for a project. I had always loved Kirsten's designs so I thought it would be a perfect project and nothing better than to start "Thursday" on a Thursday. This is how far I got last night.

With MG's help I did the math for how much yarn to order for the Phildar sweater. Keep your fingers crossed.

kitty: Lace Textured Shawl - Habu Textile A-1B Kakishibu Tsumugi Silk

Pattern: Lace Textured Shawl
Fiber: Habu A-1B Kakishibu Tsumugi Silk
Colour: 52

Woho, an FO as I avoid the Phildar sweater that I posted about earlier. I am completely out of black yarn and haven't even started the ribbing for the bottom 1/2 of the front or back. So I need to swatch and do some math and I don't want to. *bleck*

This Shawl started during Summer Solstice as I took part in the observation of Candle Night. I had wanted to be able to take it in my bag for a brainless project during a convention, but it grew to much those first couple of nights and ended up on the back burner.

This pattern started out as another textured shawl recipe shawl, but it took on a life of its own. I had finished a textured shawl recipe shawl in indigo hand spun and wanted something a little lacier. So I started to throw in random faggot stitches. The pattern is made up of a combination on 8 lace patterns and stockinet rows in decreases row counts.

This was the first time I had used the Habu A-1B Kakishibu Tsumugi Silk and I absolutely love the fiber. I used to strands of the yarn held together, but due to the fineness of the yarn it still achieve a lacey appearance. The yarn is rather stiff when blocked. I will be interested to see if it gets softer with use this fall.

kitty: where designers get there inspirations

Issey Miyake believed you could never draw in site from a piece of work once it was finished. People and experiences is how he draws his strengths. One of the poets that he draws great inspiration from is, Shuntaro Tanikawa. After reading the poem, I just had to include it in a post.

Issey Miyake is one of the pure genius of our time.

Everything is Soft

A square is sometimes shy
and softly slips into roundness.
In roundness it feels nice
and ever so easily dozes off.

"Upright," unawares, wavers
into the wrinkling of age.
Getting old is a good feeling.
"Upright" smiles in silence.

Even a triangle and diamond
want to take on favorite shapes.
Like water or wind, they want to expand or shrink,
and lean on someone.

And colours, you know -
they play hide and seek, and tag
with flowers, leaves, mud and the sea
and make up a lot of stories.
