I bought the book purely by the cover when I saw it. I was willing to take a chance that I was going to be in love with the organic flowers alone on the cover. A totally unexpected treat for the reader. Most of the designs are the unexpected and pure art.

6 different bag designs with 94 different ways to embellish them through crochet motifs Here is another title in the series that I posted about earlier. I could actually see crocheting the first bag on the cover with a fun flower on the side. I might even have an itchy hook and some fisque that is calling. The other bags aren't really me, but it is nice to have multiple options. The embellishments do seem to have been repeated a lot in the book, but there are certainly some new ones like the chains. As usual the diagrams are very clear and all the patterns are charted.

Japanese Craft Book Cuteness. Ok, I would buy any book in this series. I admit it. All of the books in this series just rock. The diagrams are out of this world and the book just makes me smile. Admittedly, I don't really see crocheting sandals, cupcakes, mini clothing items, or veggies anytime soon. But maybe some cherries as a pin or maybe some of the flower bouquets. There is even a pattern for Calia Lilies. (OH. Mom :) The book is broken down into 6 sections of 100 patterns. a) Fruits and veggies b) Sea Creatures and animals c) Spoons, cups, pots, mittens, flip flops, purses, snowman, candle, stockings d) flour bouquets e) Deserts, pastries, donuts f) musical instruments, plane, hot air balloons Here are some additional photos from the book

i had restless kitties yesterday who needed a new toy, so i grew one of scraps stuffed with scraps. crocheted a bulbous shell, knitted a catnip pocket with 5 strands of leftover yarn, tacked down three sides of the pocket, stuffed the bulb full of more leftover yarn, and gave it a little green topping.

as of this writing, no one can seem to confirm the taxonomy of this critter. is it some sort of fruit with little green leaves? is it an eyeless monster with a giant catnip mouth and green bow? is it a hairy christmas ornament? no one knows for sure. it is, however, kitty-approved, and the easily renewable catnip pocket keeps the catnip crumbs well in place.

I don't think this last Spring/Summer issue of Marche is as strong as the past two issues. There really are not any projects that make me want to get out the needles and yarn. There are a lot of cute projects, but there is just so few hours in the day. Here area few quick FO photos of the change purse. It is about 4inches by 4inches so a perfect size to hold your change. Putting in the zipper was a pain, but basically the problem was the zipper is about 8 inches long for a 4 inch opening. It was not the type of zipper that could easily be cut and just tacked. So I basted it in place and then hand stitched a row next to the teeth and and at the bottom. (The little Alien is one of my favorite characters from a Japanese video game that came in a limited edition awhile ago.)

Crochet Crochet Crochet item: Crochet Triangle Pouch Kit content: 14.36 price:14.36 time: crocheting took a couple of hours, still need to sew it together Just a cute little project to get some crochet experience under my belt. The colours are really out of this world. I couldn't help changing the stripes around a little though. Why are there not enough time for all the crafts that I want to pursue. So for now little projects will have to do.

Somehow I think I could save myself $66.00 and make a Prada knock off brooche, what do you think? I screen captured the pictures on Yoox since I just couldn't believe that granny squares have become the hip accessory for this fall. According to the descriptions, the originals are made with cotton on a metal pin back. It really might be something fun to make!

Hard to believe that last Thursday evening MG and I were having our very own crochet party. MG helped me through my very first Japanese crochet chart. I am not too sure that I will be able to do it without her, to be honest. But I have at least I know have a starting point in understanding how to read them. MG and I don't get enough crafting time together so I cherish the moments we have like a little gem. Thanks MG for your patience in getting me through it.
