I have utterly been dancing around the office ever since the mail arrived. I have even been singing Happy Days (通常盤) by 大塚愛 all afternoon. M thinks I have totally lost my mind, but I don't care. I won the bid on Ebay for this absolutely wonderful Millinery Head Form (1950's) with post and clamp. $15.00. You don't know how much I have wanted one of these for the last 19 years, but I also didn't want to spend an arm and a leg. 6 months ago these were going for a couple of hundred dollars, if you could find one. Just signs yet again of the sad economy. |

kitty: Tatting and RPG's??? who knew
![]() |
Beginning Tatting : C214 Spouses Craft room - Learn this age old but currently little known form of lace work. Part of the Spouse & Family Program event track That's right, Beginning Tatting was taught this year in the Spouse track at Origins. Who knew that Tatting and RPG's would be found in the same convention. I was so shocked I had to sign up for the class. I also had one other amazement over the weekend, I meet Knitterly Thing at Origins. That's right the creator of Vesper yarn. (WOW) Though I spaced out who she was when I meet her and it wasn't until MG went, that is Vesper did it dawn on me. Less than 10 hours of sleep over 5 days will do it to you. She was super sweet and on her way looking for other yarn shops when I ran into her, but how cool is that!!!!! VESPER :) |

kitty: SEX IN THE CITY
![]() |
We have waited since Paris for this night! I don't think I have ever gone to a midnight showing where there were so many high heels in the audience and a sold out theatre with only 16 males. And you though the lines were normally bad for the ladies room. We got to see our old friends again so it was a good night. The movie isn't great, but who cares I loved every shoe filled momment. Favorite overheard comment; "I am so excited I can not pee!" |

So What really does happen when a Mage learns to knit? |

Her Familiar starts to sweat! Look at all the craft items though, hat, tail things, sweater, crocheted pin, and a lovely Intarsia scarf! And she is fully stocked with a new ball of yarn in the basket and is that argyle socks as well?? I just love how knitting is starting to show up in other aspects daily life. This was this month's Insert Magazine (vol. 48) in the Dengeki Playstation Game Magazine. (wiki) |

kitty: Generosity, PIF Memes and the meaning of giving and getting
Katrin posted a couple days ago about a new meme that is starting to float around and the idea really moved me. The meme deals with the meaning of giving and getting. I have meet so many wonderful people through blogging, some of which have become my dearest friends. MG and I often comment about how it is so weird when you think about how much crafting and a blogging brings us together. So I just wanted to say thank you all for becoming our friends and sticking with us through the good and the bad. As a whole I think we all love getting mail, well unless it is bills . Nothing excites me more than an unexpected postcard, a surprise brown treasure box, or a card in the mail box. I have received so many treasures in my short blogging life. So it is time to PAY IT FORWARD!!!!! “I will send a handmade gift to the first 3 people who leave a comment on my blog requesting to join this PIF exchange. I don’t know what that gift will be yet and you may not receive it tomorrow or next week, but you will receive it within 365 days, that is my promise! The only thing you have to do in return is pay it forward by making the same promise on your blog.” And if you are not one of the first 3, please go ahead and leave a comment you too will get something in your mailbox over the next 365 days. Thank you all! PS. Don't forget that blogger doesn't always make it easy to find your email. So please leave your blog's url so I can find you. |

kitty: thank you swap bot spoiler
![]() |
Thank you so much Windchime & Dragonflies, Mia recently hosted a swap over on swap bot dealing with Bright Socks. My swap partner had an amazingly cool idea for bright socks... Do it yourself. She sent me instructions, kool-aid, and blank yarn to dye my own. So funny since I am taking the Cidermoon Sock dyeing class in June. She also sent tea for while I wait and an adorable journal made of bamboo pulp and a leaf cover. How cute is that.. Thank you so much. PS. I am working on writing up my MS&W loot post, but I have a really miserable migraine so it will have to wait until tomorrow. |

![]() Knitters Treat Exchange - 2007 |
| Thank you so much. E from Not another Knitblog . You don't know how much I need a hot bath, chocolate, and a cup of tea right now. I have been so stressed out, tired and exhausted this afternoon, so it comes at a perfect time. All afternoon I have been thinking of that old Calgon commercial, "Calgon take me away," but this is so much nicer and smells so good. |

kitty: yep, i'm sick
![]() |
The funny things you do when you are feeling really under the weather and your body hurts to much to sleep, but you have no concentration to knit, work, or breathe. Yep, you guessed it I organized all my Japanese craft books and realized that I hadn't posted about a lot of them. So I am trying to catch up my postings. I have also been eating a lot of salted ramen inspired by a new cooking show I am watching from Japan, Dotch. Hailed as the new Iron Chef successor. |

kitty: rambling thoughts
| Have you ever sat down and really
thought about the reason’s why you knit?
On The ever-growing desire to be more efficient in my office and to improve my work area and space my I bought a new bookshelf for my office. I was so happy to finally un-boxed all of my yarns and spread them out on the bookshelf so that I could see them in all there glory. Woho, there was actual space to see my stash. I though I would be ecstatic. Unfortunately, I wasn’t and am still not happy. My office now looks smaller and really messy. The exact thing I was trying to get away from in getting the bookshelf. I called my husband in to take a look and he made a comment that really made me just want to cry my eyes out. He said your office just looks like what you are, a board housewife that has far too much yarn. Then I got to thinking does he really thinks that is who I am and why I knit. It has been a long time since I felt so hurt. At least for me, that is so far from the reason I actually knit it isn’t even funny. Knitting is the only shred of a dream that remains for me to become a professional fashion designer or textile curator. It is a small shred that I only within the last two years have I even been willing to allow myself to have. It really took everything I had to muster the power to start to knit. When I got married I essentially closed the doors to my dreams, to pursue starting a business with my husband. There wasn’t time or money in those days to even think about the frivolities of crafting or sewing. It was all about doing what ever you had to do to get the business going. And I don’t regret the luxury of being able to work with the man I love everyday of my life and to be with him 24 hours a day. But now, I am being labeled by M as a bored housewife. Maybe I am, or maybe there just is a part of me that is trying to get out to do the things I once loved. Uggggggggggg……
I don’t know what to do with my office now. I hate it and feel even
more trapped and stressed. |

Kitty: MeowGirls Secret Pal Button
Another special thanks actually to MeowGirl for designing such a cool button for us all to use. I submited it to Jacqueline, but had nothing to do with the design. I wanted to make sure she gets all the credit for such a cool design. Thank You again MeowGirl.
Kitty: THANK YOU
I just wanted to send out a very special thank you do my dear knit buddy,
MeowGirl. She stayed up late translating a pattern for me and when I woke
up there was a .pdf file waiting in my email. Thank you so much MeowGirl.
I really appreciate it. I can not believe you did it in one night. Or that you did it. I was very touched.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm wonder if I can sneak in some swatching this afternoon.
I also heard from both of my Secret Pal's yesterday. (The person who got my name and the person name I received.) Such a cool feeling getting email from both of them on the same day. Thank you mystery sneaky knitter and my pal who will just have to wait till april to see her thank you.

kitty: bleck, you were right
ok.... i hate to admit it but meow was correct. i transferred my stole to the circular needles last night and i went from 9 inches to 14inches in an evening. a major advancement from the only 4 rows a night due to the weight and hand aches. i must admit the circulars helped. though i am not convinced on the texture of the clover bamboo. it may not be the best texture for the mohair since it sticks to the cord connectors. bleck, you were right.
so meow, i have more links for you.how to make yarn from plastic bags, cleow's plastic knitted bag , wol & zo yarn and more has been making plastic bags , plastic bag tote . I still think Ms. Recycle needs the ultimate french market bag out of plastic. i have been looking for good plastic bags for you, but none so far. maybe santa will have better luck with nice colour bags.
i also just finished my pinky flower swap flower. i will post pictures once i have sent it out. i picked up some candy to send along with it today, since it was for a pinku swap. one must include candy for the swap as well.
my husband and i just bought each other our christmas gifts this afternoon, new cell phones. <happy dance> or should i say we bought new toys, since my husband will soon be able to watch cnn from his cell phone. the thing i am most excited by is the 1 megapixel camera. as people around me know i am always taking photos of people, and avoiding the camera myself. i would be super excited about our new phones if i wasn't so sad how behind the united states is in cell phone technology. this is the phone i really want second link 132mm * 45mm*13 mm and with lime green or orange buttons. heck i would like the orange karaoke phone 320x240 res screen, can do karaoke both by itself as well as output wireless via bluetooth/802.11 to speakers. the lyrics will run through your lcd. this is the #1 holiday most popular cell phone in japan with high school girls. BUT alas as one of the vp of a japanese cell phone company told us, Americans just don't like gadgets. who ever did that study was on drugs. i now need to knit a little cell phone cover, maybe an animal covers from stitch bitch nation. (43 over) oh honey... maybe i need a video watch for christmas, too.

Kitty: T'was black Friday.
yawn.............................. zzzzz..................... yawn.............. and I just woke from a long afternoon nap. All the house was silent except for the sounds of buttons being smashed. I have survived another black friday your see.
For this day started with a fright, buzzers and ringers howl through the air. The clock reads 5:30 could this be right. And out of my bed my husband did fly. He is already dressed for not being prepared would cost him precious time. He nudges me out of the warm blankets you see... It is time to head out for the call of Best Buy. I am promised warm coffee and donuts will be there, but my body claims who cares.
So I hooped out of bed and bundled up tight for I knew old man winter was lurking his might. And we drove with a dash to the store with the yellow sign. He gathered his loot, but the line was to long. So he put it all back and we ran for the car.
Off to Comp USA to see what was on sale, so we ran across town to only be fooled there was nothing good for the 6 hour sale.
So we headed to Media Play, and what would you know. 2 games for $30 for all 19.99 games, here he goes. Oh to see the joy in his face as his patience was rewarded with all the money saved. A sale finally worth standing in line for you see. He gathered all his loot and hoarded it to the car.
Then to my surprise he offered me breakfast out. My favorite meal to eat in restaurant you see, so a mighty fine bribe indeed. Could it be eggs and mushrooms, oh what a delight.
Then we headed out again this time to Polaris Mall to see what they had, and to my surprise my sweet husband tricked me into shopping for myself. Ah, what a surprise and what a shock. He bought me a new outfit and complimented me to boot. What a sweety I thought, maybe the alarm was not all for nothing. :)
So after my long black friday nap, I started on my winter stole. I will post more tomorrow with pictures I promise. But maybe another long winter nap for me now.
