Sock Memme time:

When did you first learn to knit socks? In January of 2005, I wanted to knit something for my husband.

What’s the first sock you ever knit?January 2005, I made a pair of tube socks for M. I really wanted to knit something for M, but all he wanted was a pair of white cotton tube socks so I used a historical pattern from the 1800's.

Favorite Sock Pattern? It would have to be Jaywalkers, this has become my generic sock pattern.

Favorite needle method? Metal DPN's

Favorite sock needles? Knit Picks US #1’s

Who do you knit socks for? M, Mia, T, Olga, my mom, and myself

How many pairs have you knitted to date? 26 and with 4 on the needles

What is on your sock knitting to-do list?
1) Finish the above-mentioned pairs and write up the pattern for Lily in the hidden garden socks.
2) Finish 1 more pair in the yarn diet plan (I have done 2)
3) Knit up some new designs
4) Knit a pair of colourwork socks

What kind of socks do you like to knit-
Striped? I would love to do a pair of striped socks. I keep looking at Vesper's 4 mini hank sets but they always sell out so quickly.

Colorwork?Well, it is on my to do list... But right now it is probably a pipe dream since colour work scares me to death.

Cabled? Yes, cables are one of my favorites

Lace? Yes and no, sometime I think lace socks are kind of silly if they have to many holes. It seems to defeat the reason for wearing socks.

Anklets? I have one pair, but I have never worn them

Knee Socks? I knit a pair for Olga, but I doubt that I would knit them for myself.

Solid colors? For lace and cables only

Bright and crazy? Bright, yes. Crazy, yes. Wild, more the better.

Faux Fair Isle (the yarn doing all of the work)? The pair of anklets that I haven't worn are done with the faux fair Isle. I have kind of mixed feelings about the yarn. I have a few other hanks in the stash. I like the concept behind it.

How many sock yarn clubs are you currently signed up for? Um... Um... Um.. Only 2 Wollmeise (Yes I won the lottery) and Tour of DC Socks

Tag a few sock knitters here: If you are reading, knit socks, and love sock yarn please consider yourself tagged! Or if your name is Mia the sock yarn enabler, you are tagged.

kitty: yet another jaywalker sock

title: Jaywalkers
pattern: Jaywalker
content:Woolmeise
needles: US 1
time: 10 hours

Jaywalker for me has become that generic sock pattern that always seems to work. This time though I tried a new heel after my class with Nancy Bush and I am in love with how it fits. The banded heel took out a lot of the bagginess in the body of the foot. I am super excited about it.

kitty: Happy Spring

Happy Spring!!!!

The weather has been absolutely crazy we had more than 2 months of rain in 36 hours followed by an ice storm to issue in spring. Of course the 642 people that had car wrecks this morning in central Ohio may not have felt the Easter Bunny will be here soon. That is solid ice on the car, road, and yard.

There hasn't been much knitting going on. Deadlines have been pretty much taking over my life. Though I must say I have jumped on the Woolmeise band wagon. I can not believe how beautiful the colours are in these socks.

kitty: Yeah, heavenly socks... Thank you Grumperina my socks fit!

The Specs:
Pattern: Jaywalker Socks by Grumperina
Yarn: I think it was No No Kitty from Kpixie and Lang Jawool In black since I majorly ran out of yarn.
Modifications: They are shorter than what the pattern called for since I was having yarn fears. Guess it was really justified this time since I didn't have enough for the second toe. I may rip out the first toe to knit in black so they match, but it is so heart breaking I ran out. The first toe looked so nice it is so hard to think about ripping it out.

I absolutely love these socks and for me the thing I absolutely love was the fact that they fit. They are snug and cuddly.

And to answer a dear friends question, yes I have been still cooking up a storm and trying new and unusual dishes. Maybe not with the same world cup fever, but there has still been food excitement. Here are photos from tonight's dinner. It was definitely world cup quality though.
Cherry Mint Steak Tar Tar

kitty: future jaywalker in the works

Anyone know of a knitting competition? Knit X number of items by X date? I think I need some motivation to get me going. I feel like I should have finished my new Jaywalkers this week, but alas they are only 2/3 done. Though I keep telling myself I really don't need wool socks in the middle of a heat wave, now do I?

Though I can honestly say I completely understand know why January One has made so many of these socks. The pattern is wonderful. I absolutely love how well they fit. They actually really fit me. I normally come up with really baggy socks that I hate. Thank you Grumperina for such a great pattern. All the blog talk about these socks is definitely deserved.
