MG: unidentifiable FO

i had restless kitties yesterday who needed a new toy, so i grew one of scraps stuffed with scraps. crocheted a bulbous shell, knitted a catnip pocket with 5 strands of leftover yarn, tacked down three sides of the pocket, stuffed the bulb full of more leftover yarn, and gave it a little green topping.

freshly completed last night

as of this writing, no one can seem to confirm the taxonomy of this critter. is it some sort of fruit with little green leaves? is it an eyeless monster with a giant catnip mouth and green bow? is it a hairy christmas ornament? no one knows for sure. it is, however, kitty-approved, and the easily renewable catnip pocket keeps the catnip crumbs well in place.

already kitty-felted this morning

MG: interlude

still a mess over dealing with my papers. hardly any knitting at all. sorry for being neglectful, which is shameful after your warm comments on my norwegian stockings. thank you for making my socks feel loved.

all i have to show for now... wanted to make a crochet creature as a present, but i only got as far as something to feed the creature:

sorry it's out of focus; hard to photograph since it's so small--about the diameter of a U.S. quarter i think. not very filling for the average knitter but should be a fine snack for a crochet creature yet to exist.

MG: a sweater for B'oeb-lh

hubby recently informed me his squid friend, B'oeb-lh, was feeling envious of Love Ambassador's little pink sweater. i rectified the situation with a little blue sweater from leftover wool.

it's crocheted with squid anatomy in mind--an exit for every one of those eight appendages. and of course, special order sweaters must include a personal touch, in this case a monogram. here is a closer look:

MeowGirl: my ambassador

a week ago, Thuy blogged about these adorable Camilla Engman creatures she wanted to make. those happy, whimsical faces were so unbearably cute, i wanted one of my own. i said so in the comments, and an enthusiastic wanna get out your crochet hook? and "let's try!" came back to me.

i had also wanted a Valentine's messenger for someone dear yet far away; so i gathered my rusty crocheting skills and enchanted a freeform fuzzy ambassador:

to get her to the mail on time, i had to hurry: crochet, stuff, crochet, stuff, pick out the perfect beads, then sew them on while sitting on the front steps of the post office. after she stepped into being, i had but moments to hastily snap a few inadequate photos. here she is pondering love in the sun:

fortunately, the recipient furnished us with photos to continue the tale... upon arrival at her destination:

love ambassador pondered love in the rain.

thanks Thuy, i await your creation.
