kitty: World Cup Food Update and a new yarn find

The Specs:
Pattern: City Shawl - Stefanie Japel 2005
Yarn: 2 hanks banana silk from Pure Knits
Needles: Size US 15 European Plastic Inox
Modifications: Just ordered 2 more hanks to make it a little larger
Time: 2 hours from the time the box was open yesterday

You know, there are those yarns that just make you want to sit down and knit when they arrive in the mail. Banana Silk would have to be one of those yarns. I couldn't even wait to take a picture of the hanks of yarn in there pretty bag with brown ribbon. (Thanks you so much, Yahaira)

There is just something totally fascinating about the fact that you are knitting with banana fibers from tree stalks and leaves from Nepal. The yarn feels amazingly soft, nice sheen, and has the funky recycled fiber feel like the recycled silk yarn that was the rage a couple of years ago.

I had bought the city shawl pattern when it first came out, and had never found the perfect yarn for it. Yahaira, made the suggestion on her site that it was a great yarn for the pattern and she was so right.

M and I have also been doing a World Cup Food adventure:
