A little sneak peak of a knitted tee-shirt sleeve I am working on to use up some stash in Habu A-1. It is no secrete that I am a huge fan of Missoni's patterns so I am using the photos from Style.com below from Missoni Men's Spring 2011 Collection to replicate some of the simple colourwork patterns. I also as you can see have decided to give colourwork another try. It seems to be going better this time than it has previously. Now only to cross my fingers that it works! |

Abyss is finally officially finished. All that is left is to get some FO shots of the sweater. Finally the weather has cooled off enough for me to actually want to wear a silk cardigain again. It seems like I have been at this one for awhile. The first method I used for sewing down the ribbons was a failure, so I had been putting off trying again. This past week and a half though in my free time I have been doing a ton of handwork to finish it up. |

| This time I did 12 - 6 inch long linen ribbons for the main tabs and then 12 small 1.4 inch squares for the snap returns. |

| Then they were stitched down using a locking blanket stitch so that it is possible for the threads to break and it still to not unravel. |

| The linen ribbons frayed pretty badly. So I hand zigzagged all the ends and then double rowed hemmed them. |

kitty: Japanese Craft Book : Swedish traditional knit pattern book Britt - Britt-Marie Christoffersson784529046640

What truly fascinates me though about Britt-Marie Christoffersson are the amazing classes I have read other bloggers post about in Japan. (link - link - link) Class photos that dreams are made of. Some of the techniques that are illustrated in her work I still have no idea how she accomplished them. So when I saw on Amazon jp that she had a new book they were carrying I jumped and ordered it. The photo of the book nor the look inside didn't do the book justice. |

As you can tell the book doesn't disappoint at all and is really spectacular. |

It comes in an oversized black portfolio case with a small colour booklet of some of the historical designs. Then each of the charts are printed on over sized glossy poster board. I wish all the charts had corresponding colour photos of the original historical garment, but we all can dream. Maybe someday I will get the nerve to do colourwork again (first attempt), but for now I am just an admirer from a distance. |
