Kitty: Bag Lady

I have a confession to make, I am a bag lady! I am obsessed each season about finding the perfect bag even if I really don't really need a new one. New, Old, Used, and Vintage it really doesn't matter as long as it is unique. A couple of years ago I was obsessed with making my own perfect evening bag. A part of me really wanted to find a store to carry them, but in reality I ended up giving them away to family and friends.

The FO pictures below are a little faded, but they were taken from scans of old photos. I am really glad I kept photos of the bags, since when I was cleaning the closet I found that on the butterfly one below a lot of the beads have been eaten in the closet. All the decorative materials were vintage ribbons, thread, and beads on silk velvet. Most of the beads are actually '20's gelatin beads.

So today I was searching around for a new purse and found these crafty little items. Maybe it is time to try making knitted handbags or crochet handbags for my family and friends for Christmas.

At Saks Fifth Avenue

Carlos Falchi Cashmere Crochet Hobo

At Neiman and Marcus

Salvatore Ferragamo Knit Shoulder Bag - Isabella Fiore Large Knit Hobo - Fendi Knit Chef Bag

Or we could discuss the truly scary Chanel bag that is big needlepoint (From the photos it looks like the stitches were over two holes.) on what looks like that hard plastic canvas. I have only seen pictures over the years of this bag. It was a limited edition and a friend sent me this photo awhile ago since I was asking about the design. The edges were bound in leather and it had the traditional metal chain.

  3. I saw a bag that same style on the Herrschners sale pages. You can make your own:

I kind of liked it. No one else at the bus stop would be carrying it!
