kitty: Happy Chinese New Years

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEARS!!!!

Wow, I sit here realizing that this time last week I was probably setting on a boat on West Lake in Hangzhou, China walking the steps that Emperors walked before me.

M and I, normally take a vacation around Chinese New Years each year, well part vacation and part business trip. This year the schedule was pretty much clean and plans fell through to go to Taiwan. So the choices were Shanghai to visit M's brother or Hong Kong. So we made the decision pretty much last minute to go to Shanghai. It ended up being a once and a life time experience.

There were a couple of negatives with the trip, some of which was I didn't get to see MG or my mother for New Years. I did walk away with a new appreciation for what we have in the States and a love for Starbucks Coffee Bathrooms.

So that's why I have been pretty absent the last couple of weeks. With clearing out work tonnage and getting ready to go. Here is M and my photo journal of the trip. Hope you enjoy. And of course there has to be a photo of a well traveled ball of yarn to finish up the trip.

I also want to send out a special thank you to B and G for being such wonderful tour guides during the trip. You guys were wonderful and we thank you dearly.

There is a new FO that is blocking as I type, but that is for another day.

  1. P, you are welcome! I owned you the time picking the Clinique stuff for me:-) I actually felt ashamed driving aimlessly in Hangzhou Town but at least I managed to get you to the starbucks!

  2. Why don't you repeat how much you love western style toilets? And it sounds like G was nice enough to help you find them.

  3. Wow... the trip looks absolutely amazing. Thanks for sharing the photos. I went to China a couple of years ago and couldn't figure out the public toilets either. So don't feel bad, at least they now have Starbucks.

We have missed you, can not wait to see the blocking FO.

  5. ROFL, didn't anyone tell you about the bathrooms before you went to China. Guess it probably isn't in the tour books.

    Sorry Hun....

  7. I love all the hinting around in the comments. There must be a great bathroom story somewhere hidden in those passages.

Here are my two cents. I have a close friend who lives in China and we once had conversations about restrooms. He was shocked and amazed that people sit down in the west. He was in horror of the filth people must be setting on. Then I told him that bathrooms were usually cleaned once an hour in most public areas in the States. If no toilet paper is found you just go request it and you are set. His one comment was, wow I don't think the bathrooms in my office building are cleaned but twice a month and you carry your own paper.

And yes, I am sure I would have to practice long and hard to go visit him. One reason I would never go to China. I am too lazy to do deep knee bends to squat. My deepest sympathy.

Thanks for sharing the photos, hun. I miss hearing about your life so much, but I guess that can not be helped. Hugs and kisses to you both.
