The sock is named after: Rear Admiral Grace Murray Hopper.

While she was working on a Mark II Computer at Harvard for the Navy her associate found a moth stuck in a relay impeding operation, where she stated that they were “debugging” the system. She brought the term computer bug into popularity & the term is still attributed to the Admiral.

1996 – The USS Hopper (DDG-70) was launched. It was nicknamed The Amazing Grace, it is on a very short list of U.S. military vessels named after women

  2. O.K. I resisted one day. Now I'm already looking for suitable yarn. Have you put the pattern up on ravelry? It's a rav download but I can't find the pattern there.
