Don't forget to go outside and watch the moon tonight with your family and eat some sweets. "Mid-Autumn Festival" is celebrated on the 15th of the 8th lunar month. A day when all the family members, loved ones, and friends congregate under the full moon. Legend has it that the rebels hid battle plans in the
moon cakes for an attack against the ruling Mongolian government. The
rebels knew that the traditional moon cakes would not be eaten by the
Mongolians and would serve as an open way to distribute battle plans.
On the night of the Moon Festivals rebels successful attacked and overthrew
the government and this lead to the establishment of the Ming Dynasty
and freedom from the previous invaders. |
